Early registration is $40.00.  Full registration after May 31 is $45.00. Day of Registration is $50.00. Pre-registration for a second race is $20.00 and Day of Registration for a second race is $25.00.  Note: For Day of Registrations there is a 10% surcharge payable to Seattle Parks and Recreation. 

Both a USAC license and WSBA numbers are required. Category 5 men and category 5 women can purchase a one-day USAC license when registering for the event, both online and on-site on race day, for $10.

WSBA rental numbers will be available on-site, on race day, for a $5 refundable deposit, plus a $5 fee for Washington State residents.

We will also be accepting Visa, Mastercard, Discover Card and Apple Pay for Day of Registrations and for beer garden purchases.

​The Taco Time NW Cycling Team is giving away two Taco Time Cactus Cards worth $50.00 each to lucky winners.  The first drawing will be May 31st, the second drawing will be on June 18th.  All pre-registered racers are included in the drawing.  So, register early and win a great prize.  Good at all Taco Time restaurants in the State of Washington.

Women’s Competition 

The Taco Time NW Cycling Team and all women’s Team Thrive p/b Kaiser Permanente are working together to make the women’s race opportunities even more exciting.  Three women’s combined category races, opportunities to race twice, cash and merchandise prizes, and cash “Primes” in all races.

Beginner Racer Clinic

Join the beginner racer clinic at 8:30am, free with race registration, and get one hour of instruction from Team Thrive p/b Kaiser Permanente team member and Cat 2 racer Lisa Coyne, and Cat 3 teammate Steve Bleifuhs on the Volunteer Park race course.  The race course will be closed for the exclusive use of your clinic.  Learn what you need to know to be safe and win in criterium bike racing.  After the class, continue your warmup and then join the Cat 5 men at 10:00am or the Cat 4/5 women at 10:35 for the race.  Held under USA Cycling Permit #2020-516.

Beer Garden and Food Trucks

Counterbalance Beer will be at our beer garden, Zaytoona Mediterranean Food,  and JJ Froyogo Ice Cream and Frozen Yogurt.  Food trucks and beer garden open at 11:30am and will be open until 7:30pm.  

Gear and Bike Check

Plan to ride to the race and use our Gear and Bike Check located behind the beer garden open from 11:00am to 8:00pm.  Ride to the race to get a good warmup, check your gear, race, check your bike, and watch the great racing while you enjoy great food and fabulous beer.  Then take your prizes and enjoy a ride home.

Note:  *Cat 3 women in the Cat P/1/2/3 race and the Cat 5 women in the Cat 4/5 race will be scored separately.


All categories will receive the Taco Time Volunteer Park 2020 medals five deep. All categories will have cash “Primes”.  Total cash “Prizes” and “Primes” now at $5000.00 and rising.

Taco Time NW Cycling Team are the winner’s cash prize sponsor along with Taco Time NW Restaurants with a generous donation of Cactus Cards.  All race categories will receive Taco Time Volunteer Park Criterium 2020 medals for the top five finishers, and cash and Taco Time NW Restaurants Cactus Cards for the top five finishers in selected categories.

The Course

The race runs through a closed course within Volunteer Park.


Race is held rain or shine.  No Refunds. Held under USA Cycling Permit #2020-500.  2020 license required.  Annual license available for purchase at registration.  One-day license available for Cat 5 men and Cat 5 women.  Waivers must be signed at registration prior to each individual race except for pre-registration though USA Cycling.  Fields with less that 10 starters can be combined at race director’s discretion.  All prizes will be awarded at the podium ceremonies and winners must be present to receive their awards.

Increased racing time and additional categories

We will continue to work with the USA Cycling officials to limit the pulling of riders out of contention. We have reorganized the races in every category to give you the maximum time to race your bikes, and given more opportunities for both the men and women to enter additional races during the day.

Race course preparation

The race course will be swept twice before the race to eliminate the moss and any debris present.  Creating the safest course is our priority.  The Bollard plates will be securely covered with duct tape and a nonslip surface.  Crossing guards and corner marshals are present to ensure the safety of the race course.

Cascade Criterium Series Points Competition

Cascade Criterium Series Points Competition presented by Voler’ with additional sponsorship from Ogden Murphy Wallace Attorneys will continue this year including Ballard, Seabrook, Taco Time Volunteer Park, Tacoma/Proctor, Burien (B-Town), Redmond Derby Days, and Buck Knife/Riverbend in Post Falls, ID.  

Points will be awarded ten deep: 5,4,3,2,1,1,1,1,1,1.  In the event of a tie, the racer with the highest position in the current race is declared the Points Leader.  The current Points Leader and all competitors wearing a Points Leader Jersey will be called up at the beginning of each race in which he/she is a competitor to be acknowledged and start at the front of the peloton. Points are accumulated in individual races within each Cascade Criterium Series Points Races and are not transferable between series races.
