Volunteer Park Criterium

When: Sunday, June 11, 2017
Where: Volunteer Park, 1400 East Prospect St, Seattle WA
Cost: Preregistration: $35 online until May 31; $40 after May 31; $45 day of (second race is $25).
Registration: Online, via USAC, under USAC permit 2017-196. Day-of registration is also available, at Volunteer Park.
Numbers: WSBA numbers go on your LEFT.
Prizes: Cash prizes for Cat 3 and above men and women. Merchandise prizes for top three in all other categories. 50th Anniversary medals for the top five in all categories.

Registration and Cost

Registration before May 31, 2017 is $35.00.  Registration after May 31, 2017 fee is $40.00. Initial Day of registration is $45.00.  Second Day of race registration is $25.00.  All fees include USAC insurance and Day of race fees also include the Seattle Parks and Recreation fee for in park sales.

Pre-registration online at USACycling.org/events.  Additional race fee is $25.00.  Annual License available for purchase at registration.  Day of registrations open at 10:00am and closes 10 minutes prior to race.    No credit or debit cards, check or cash only.  Make checks payable to Seattle Super Squadra Cycling Team.

Both a USAC license and WSBA numbers are required. Category 5 men and category 4/5 women can purchase a one-day USAC license when registering for the event, both online and on-site on race day, for $10.

WSBA rental numbers will be available on-site, on race day, for a $5 refundable deposit, plus a $5 fee for Washington State residents.

Collegiate categories will have their own awards to the top three finishers.  They will be mixed with the amateur races but scored separately. The Collegiate Race winners will receive, Taco Time Cactus Cards at $75, $50, and $25.

Cascade Criterium Points Series Points Competition

Points will be awarded ten deep: 5,4,3,2,1,1,1,1,1,1.  In the event of a tie, the racer with the highest position in the previous race is awarded the points with the other racer moving one down on the points awards.  The Points leader will be called up at the beginning of each race in which he/she is a competitor to be acknowledged and start at the front of the peloton.  The leaders jersey will be awarded at the completion of the series to the racer having the most points in each category. The Course

The race runs through a closed course within Volunteer Park.

 Rules

Race is held rain or shine.  No Refunds. Held under USA Cycling Permit # 2017-196.  2017 license required.  Annual license available for purchase at registration.  One-day license available for Men’s Cat 5 and Women’s Cat 4/5 racers.  Waivers must be signed at registration prior to each individual race except for pre-registration though USA Cycling.  Fields with less that 10 starters can be combined at race director’s discretion. Cash awards will be paid within 10 days.   Cash prize winners must provide their contact information to receive their awards.  Merchandise and non-cash prizes will be awarded at the podium ceremonies and winners must be present to receive their awards.

Food service and beer garden

Visit the Counterbalance Beer Garden. All the proceeds will go to the Washington State Bicycle Association as a donation to support bike racing in our area.  http://counterbalancebeer.com

The Wicked Good Grinders food truck will be on site also.  The grinders are great, a real deal for the money, and delicious.  The perfect complement to a pint of craft beer. http://www.wickedgoodgrinders.net

Also, Coney Island Ave Wood Fired Pizza will also be there http://www.coneyislandavepizza.com. Coney Island Avenue pizza is dedicated to making pizza in the tradition of “old school” New York. They use only the finest ingredients with the right preparation to create an authentic pizza experience.

Good food, good beer, and good bike racing.  A fantastic place to spend the afternoon on a sunny summer Seattle Sunday.  Continuous bike racing from 11:00am to 7:00pm.  Beer Garden open from 11:30am to 7:00pm.  Food trucks open from 11:30am to 7:00pm.  Bring your friends, bring your family, come and enjoy the park and the great bike racing.
